Goodnight Irene, Good Morning Lee
Hello, hello--hello!
Well, summer is just about coming to an end. After Labor Day tomorrow, it will be just about over. School starts for us Tuesday (yeah, and I know it'll be just as hard for our teachers as well). I know summer's leaving us, because, as of the past couple of mornings, it was very chilly when I got out of bed, so much so that I actually thought that the heater would come on. Oh, yes, my dear friends, from what I'm beginning to experience, this up coming winter will be a long and brutal one.
Well, just as we were saying goodnight to Irene, along comes Lee, practically the next morning. Gee, and we're still cleaning up after our last "guest." As serious as Lee is, let's hope it only remains a tropical storm and doesn't turn into a full fledge hurricane. I don't think the East Coast of this country can handle another deluge of wet rain and fierce winds. I don't think this country's anemic economy can handle another costly disaster either, for that matter.
Other than for the hurricane that came towards the end, it has been, practically, a very uneventful summer. Here in Southern California, the weather was nice, not too hot and all. With the economy being weak and all, very few of us could afford to go to the major amusement parks, so many of us had sort of a "staycation" close to home. Many of us rediscovered the city parks and the public libraries, which is always a good thing. And, with the high price of fast food, even the guys are learning how to cook. Again, always a good thing. After all, with a holiday that's totally devoted to good cooking and good eating, such as Labor Day, it always helps to have a few helping hands available in the kitchen and out on the grill.
Well, that's all the time we have for this week. Until next time, be well, stay well, and remember to help the disaster survivors!
Sincerely,
Marley Sue
