Water, Food, and Beverages

Hello, everybody!

Well, things are really starting to heat up now, here in Southern California.  Yes, folks, Summer has officially arrived!    I guess it's time to get out the shorts and the flip flops and the Kool Aid and the porta pools.  Just be careful with the little ones when you're in the pool.  After all, only a few inches of water can drown.

Speaking of water, though, I've been keeping up with the flooding that's been plaguing the rest of the country.  I hear some of the levees in Nebraska will soon be failing as the rivers are cresting.  And, Heaven forbid, we have another nuclear disaster, this one in our own country, if flood water gets into the nuclear plant in Nebraska.  As if  we hadn't had enough drama with the nuclear plant in Japan already.  Oh, well, as the late Gilda Radner's character, Rosanne Rosanadanna, once said, 'It's always somethin'".  Ain't it the truth?

Next week will be the Forth of July.  That means, this week, we have to go shopping for barbecue supplies.  You know, meat, charcoal, lighter fluid, paper plates and glasses and plastic forks and spoons.  And beverages.  Gallons of beverages.  No, you just can't have a proper barbecue without beverages, carbonated or otherwise.  I mean, what else would you have to wash down all that barbecue and cole slaw?  I, for one, prefer Diet Coke.  I know I shouldn't, because of the caffeine and the artificial sweeteners and all, and the murder that all that carbonated acid does on the tooth enamel,  but still, one can't deny, Coca Cola is one heck of a refreshing drink.  And it's been around for way over a century, so it must be good.  Still, some of my friends prefer Diet Hawaiian Punch, which is not carbonated and a little more easy on the enamel, and I like the Punch too, especially with hot and spicy Mexican food.  Things may go better with Coca Cola, but Mexican food is excellent with Punch.

Well, that's all the time we have for this week.  Until next time, be well, stay well, and remember to help the disaster survivors!

Sincerely,

Marley Sue
