Apocalypse? Not Quite!

Hello, hello--hello!

Well, I really don't like to talk about the catch phrase, "There's one born every minute," but the recent event (or non-event) that took place this weekend kind of compelled me to talk about charlatan preachers, and their gullible victims, I mean, followers.  Yes, folks, let's talk about raptures that weren't, doomsday dupes, and apocalypse--not!

In case you haven't been keeping up with what's been going on in the past couple of months, Harold Camping, a radio preacher of dubious reputation, had predicted that the world was coming to an end on may 21, which, by the way, was yesterday, and the mere fact that I'm here writing this blog just ads to his dubiousness.  The other fact that proves his questionable reputation is the fact that, this wasn't his first end-of-the-world prediction.  Turns out, he made this same prediction before--in 1994.  And, from the mere fact that most of us are still here, 17 years later, that proves that this is a preacher of dubious reputation.

Now, enough about the preacher, let's talk about his followers.  Anybody, and I mean anybody, who blindly takes the word of a shyster who has been proven wrong before, deserves what they get.  I'm sorry, but it's true.  Sure, what he said sounded like it could have been true, but that's what preachers do, especially those who make their living on the radio and television.  That's how they make their money, honey.  And those who chose to give up everything they owned, well, now, they're much more worse off now than they were before.  Many of them sold their homes, their cars, cleaned out their bank accounts.  Now, what will they do?  Well, it just goes to show you the old saying was right: "Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, shame on me."

well, that's all the time we have for this week.  Until next time, be well, stay well, and remember to help the earthquake survivors!

Sincerely,

Marley Sue
