The End Of The World As We Know It?

Hello, hello--hello!

Well, the crisis in Japan just keeps going from bad to worse:  a little over 8000 dead, and about 10,000 still missing, the damage from the combined earthquake and tsunami is estimated to be in the hundreds of millions of dollars, and the Fukishira Nuclear Plant near meltdown could possibly rival that of  Russia's Chernobyl of 25 years ago.  I mean, radiation 's leaking out of the plant, the cloud made it here to the West Coast of North America this past Friday (my mom bought us some kelp capsules, just to be on the safe side), and now comes word that the radiation has invaded the local Japanese food and water supply.  It makes you just want to watch nothing but Comedy Central and Cartoon Network for the rest of your life.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the planet, more bad news:  the bombs have just been dropped on Libya, and now, it looks like we, the Untied States, maybe involved in a third war (and the beginning of the fabled World War Three, perhaps?).  Oooh, boy.  If this doesn't sound like the end of days that 2012 had predicted, it sure does sound like it.  Might as well put an eight pack of fun-sized candy in your earthquake preparedness kit while you're at it, and keep a pack around to snack on until then.  You know, things have gotten so bad on the news these days, I've actually resorted to doing homework just to get my mind off of what's going on in the world! (Thank God homework doesn't include actual reports on current events!)

Well, anyway, you know how you can help the citizens of Japan.   The American Red Cross is currently accepting donations, and you can donate any amount you can afford to donate.  All you have to do is Google "American Red Cross" and donate online. And no amount is too small.

Well, that's all the time we have for this week.  Until next time, be well, stay well, and, again I repeat, remember to help the earthquake survivors!

Sincerely,

Marley Sue
