Earthquake Preparedness--A Gentle Reminder

Hello, hello--hello!

I'm sure you all have been hearing about the earthquakes that have been plaguing this planet for the past few weeks.  First, the devastating one in New Zealand just about a month ago, which just about destroyed the city of Christchurch.  I thought that was some damage.  Then the catastrophe happened in Japan this past weekend.  Eight point freaking nine.  The images I saw on television early Saturday morning were totally unbelievable.  Take the one of the tsunami raging over the fields.  That looked like stock footage from Universal Studios.  And the wreckage in other parts of Japan looked like someone just dropped a bomb on them.  I mean, there's virtually nothing left of most of these towns.  Like, when some kids use their imagination and imagine that there's a boat in their back yard?  Well, today, there actually are boats in the backyards of the people of Japan, along with the homes of people from across town.  And don't get me started on the whole potential nuclear cataclysm that could happen.  Gee. with all this devastation, it makes you wonder who's next.  Perhaps, Los Angeles?  Boy, that's a very scary thought, especially since I live here.

Speaking of which, I'm sure all of you have gotten this earthquake preparedness stuff down pat by now, especially those of us who make our homes in La La Land, even though, as Japan has taught all of us, no matter how prepared you are, you can't be totally prepared if the earthquake makes it past the 7. line.  But, we all know the basics:  plenty of water, plenty of canned food, an extra pair of glasses if you wear them, first aid box with the usual; bandages, alcohol (the rubbing kind, not the kind you order at Kelly's Bar), antibacterial hand soap, hand sanitizer, flashlight, radio, batteries--yeah. you know.  Just a little reminder to have all of the aforementioned items handy for when the inevitable happens--and it will happen.

Well, that's all the time we have for this week.  Until next time, be well, stay well, and please--please, please, please--remember to help the earthquake survivors!

Sincerely,

Marley Sue
