Oscar Surprises All
Hello, everybody, and Happy Oscar Day!
Yes! It's finally here! The 83rd Annual Academy Awards! And I've already got all my snacks together: my popcorn, my Pringles (Reduced Fat, of course), my Crystal Light Lemonade, and, of course, I've got my eight-pack Hershey's Special Dark chocolate, although I might have to have just one fun sized bar, considering what else I'll be eating tonight.
So, who's going to take home Oscar Gold tonight? Well, I'd put my money (if I had any, wink wink, nudge, nudge) on The King's Speech, not only because I personally think it really is the best picture of the year, but also because I've heard so many good things about it. Should The King's Speech not win Best Picture, I think the runner up, The Social Network, will. Now that's a movie all my friends and classmates think will win tonight, and I guess the reason is because Facebook has become such an integral part of all our lives.
Another movie that all my peers think will win tonight is Exit Through The Gift Shop, the Best Documentary nominee about the British graffiti artist Bansky, whose art has definitely added a colorful flair to our fair city of Los Angeles. Even though we youth are united in our feelings about Exit through the Gift Shop, our parents and teachers are kind of miffed that another great documentary, Waiting for Superman, didn't even get an Oscar nod, despite all the critical acclaim it has gotten from just about everybody. Waiting for Superman, which is about the decline of the American public school system, is indeed a powerful film, and, I agree, should have been nominated right along with Exit Through The Gift Shop, just as The Tillman Story also should have been. Some Oscar decisions just leaves you scratching your head.
Well, that's all the time we have for this week. Until next time, be well, stay well, and remember to help the earthquake victims!
Sincerely,
Marley Sue
