And Now, A Medley of Current Events
Hi-dee-hi-dee-hi-dee---hi!
Well, a lot sure has happened this past week. We'll touch base on some of them. First of all, about a couple of weeks ago, a school police officer was shot near a high school in Woodland Hills, here in Southern California, by a car burglar, and the high school and about nine other schools nearby went into lockdown for many hours. Well, it was discovered this past week that that particular incident, was nothing but a big hoax! Turns out the cop made the whole thing up. Why, still remains a mystery, but the investigation as to what really went on is getting underway as I write this, and the cop will be charge with making a false report and will even be fired for what he's done. The students who had to endure the lockdown and their parents are, quite naturally, PO'd about what they've found out, and they all think this cop should be punished to the full extent of the law.
Speaking of school, we who go to parochial school here in Southern California just found out that we will have to give up the last month of our summer vacation, which gives us ten months of school instead of the traditional nine months. Isn't that lovely! It's like your boss calling you into his office and telling you, "Marley Sue, I know you've been a valued worker, show up every day that you're not ill, but things have changed here, and we are asking you to give up some of your vacation time. True, I know you and your family were planning to go to Disney World, and that's the only time you can go, but it's company policy, you know." This will raise my monthly tuition to the max, which is also bad news for my parents. If you ask me, this is a bad move for everyone involved.
The first space shuttle disaster, Challenger, also happened twenty five years ago this past week as well. What have we learned form that? Well, it's well time to retire the shuttle fleet, for one. This is the last year for the fleet, and, if you ask me, I really don't think Discovery should go up at all, with all the problems it's been having and stuff. Just remember what happened to Challenger and Columbia as a prime example. But then, again, that's just me.
Well, that's all the time we have for this week. Until next time, be well, stay well, and remember to help the earthquake survivors!
Sincerely,
Marley Sue
