From Devistated Islands to Golden Globes
Hello, everybody!
Well, it's been about a year since the devastating Haiti earthquake, and what progress has been made to bring aid to the hundreds of thousands of survivors? Well, according to most of the recent news reports, not very much. From what I've heard, people from all over the world have donated everything from money to supplies for rebuilding cities and towns. It's just that this stuff isn't getting to the people who need it the most. Now, I don't know what's going on, and I'm sure many of you would like to get to the bottom of this, as I would, but I think that a full fledge investigation as to what happened to what was donated to the citizens of Haiti should be in order, because if something fishy is going on in Haiti, we better know about it.
So, The Golden Globe Awards are tonight, and I know you all are going to be watching, as I will be. As you know, the big front runner in this year's awards season is The Kings Speech, which is about a British monarch with a really bad stammering problem. From what I hear, the only reason why this film was rated "R" is because the King's speech contains some very (and I mean very) raw language (probably nothing that the average seventh grader hasn't heard before, I'll bet you). The other contender for tonight's Golden Globes is the much-more teenager-friendly (and PG-13 rated) The Social Network, which is about the Founding of Facebook, as well as it's famous founder, whose name I can't remember at this present time, but he recently made the cover of Time Magazine as its Person Of The Year. The only downer for tonight is that, just as with other awards shows, it always seem to be broadcasted on a school night, which always make schoolkids like me very upset. One of the biggest nights of entertainment, and I have to go to bed right after it ends? Yeah, I know, but at least it gives us something to talk about at school the next morning.
Well, that's all the time we have for this week. Until next time, be well, stay well, and remember to help the earthquake survivors!
Sincerely,
Marley Sue
