A Year In Rememberance: 2010
Hello, everybody!
Well, tonight's New Year's Eve, and I know that a whole lot of you are going to have some fun tonight! Just remember to think of your fellow man and woman and please don't drink and drive. For those of you (like me) who are staying home tonight, I know you'll be ringing in the New Year with your champagne, or beer, or wine, or ginger ale, or whatever floats your boat. But whatever you do to celebrate tonight, I'm sure you all are going to have a whole lot of fun.
So, another year has finally come to an end. Gee, that was fast! It just seems like yesterday that we rang in 2010, and here it is, 2011 is coming in on the wings of a stork. I guess that's because so much has happened this past year, with all that went on in the Gulf Coast, and in Haiti, and in politics (I'd never would have thought the GOP would have taken over the House of Representatives!). We've also lost a lot of great people as well, such as Lena Horne, and Gary Coleman, and Gumby's dad, Art Clokey, and Elizabeth Edwards, and 1980's R&B singer Teena Marie. Now that was a true shock to me, and to my entire circle of family and friends! Why, that was so sudden! And she was so young! Only 54! And we also had to say goodbye to two of the most prolific icons of WWII: Edith Swain, who was the nurse who was kissed by that sailor in that photo that signaled the end of WWII, and Geraldine Hoff Doyle, known to everyone in the world as Rosie the Riveter in that famous "We can do it!" poster from WWII.
After this week, well, it will be time to take down the tree, clean up, and get back to school and work (or looking for work, for most of you), for, as with everything else, everything, good and bad, must come to an end.
Well, that's it for this week. Until next time, be well, stay well, remember the earthquake survivors, and have a New Year that's full of health, wealth, and happiness!
Sincerely,
Marley Sue
