Much To Do About Nothing
Heeeelloooo everybody!
Well, I've got good news to report to you today! This past Friday, I've just got my first "A" on my Algebra test! Oh yeah! No need for applause! I knew I could do it! But most importantly, my parents knew I could do it as well! And they're the ones who are the deciding factor in whether or not I'm getting that Beatles Rock Band video game this coming Christmas. So, if things continue to go the way they're going, I'll be rest assured that I'll find a certain very special video game under my Christmas tree this coming Christmas season.
With that said, I have to say that, in addition to getting that "A" on my Algebra test, things have been going pretty well lately. I mean, I can't complain, really. Like, here it is, the middle of October, and here in Southern California it's still as warm and balmy in the daytime as it would be in the middle of August (it's cold as Hades here at night, however). I don't know when this nice, balmy weather is going to end for the year, but I'm sure gonna enjoy it while I can. We did have a couple of days of rain here, and I have a feeling we're going to get more soon.
How'd you like that balloon boy? Yeah! It all started unfolding while I was In school this past Thursday, but we got it at lunch time over the radio that one of my friends had taken to school. It sure was harrowing, for a while. First, you got this breaking news about this kid stuck in a runaway balloon, which, you have to admit, looked like something that came out of a Hollywood Sci-Fi movie (and a badly produced Hollywood Sci-Fi movie at that). Then, when the thing touched the ground, it turns out that no one was in it, which started many of us worrying that, maybe, he could have fallen out onto the Colorado plains during this potentially treacherous journey. Then, it turned out that the kid wasn't even in the balloon at all, that he was--surprise!--at home hiding in his attic the whole darn time! Then, when the news media interviewed the family later on that evening, the kid told everyone that the entire family "did it for the show"! So, it turns out that a potential tragic story was, in fact, nothing but a big hoax! How do you like that! And it's about six and a half months from April 1st, too! Honestly, you would think that they would take into consideration all the people out there on heart medication who could have been watching this unfold on television, only to find out that all of it wasn't true at all! I don't know about you, but I think someone is in deep trouble here, and it ain't the six-year-old kid, either! Have you heard about Orson Wells' 1938 "War of the Worlds" radio broadcast that happened about 71 years ago this month? From what I heard, he had a lot of explaining to do after frightening millions of American listeners as well!
Well, that's all the time we have for today. Until next time, be well, and don't let the Swine Flu get ya!
Sincerely,
Marley Sue
