Something Hot for a Cold Winter

Hello, hello, and hello to you all!

Well, here I am, sitting in front of this brick wall I call my semi blank computer screen.  I am completely clueless of what I'm going to write about this week.  Nothing much happened this week.  The fires here in California seem to be dying down, and nobody major died, except that Manson woman who wrecked havoc in Southern California back in 1969, Susan Atkins.  Other than that, there just don't seem to be much to touch bases on this week.

Well, when there's really nothing to talk about, might as well talk about food.  That's what my Mom always says.  OK, here's a recipe that's fast and simple.  Even a seventh grader can do it (as a matter of fact, one already has!), and it comes in handy just in time for the coming winter season.  All you need is two cans of chicken or turkey broth, two cans of mixed vegetables, and a can of Turkey Spam.  Here's what you do.  Open the can of Turkey Spam, rinse off the gel a little, place it on a plate, and dice it into about a half inch to one inch cubes.  Then, you open the cans of chicken or turkey broth and dump it into a pot, and add one can of water.  Dump the Turkey Spam cubes into the chicken broth water and let it come to a boil for about five to ten minutes.  Then, open the cans of mixed vegetables, dump them into the turkey soup mixture and let boil an additional ten minutes, stirring constantly.  Add pepper and additional seasonings to make it more flavor able.  As a option, when it's done, pour the turkey vegetable soup over a bowl half full of pre-cooked rice or noodles.  This recipe should serve between four and six.

And there you have it!  A dinner of turkey vegetable soup, made with just a few ordinary items that can be found in your kitchen cabinet, and your refrigerator, as far as the rice and noodles are concerned.  And I promise you, it's very tasty, and you won't be disappointed, and neither will the others who eat it as well!  You can eat it alone, or have it for lunch with a sandwich, and wash it down with a nice glass of grape juice.  Now that ought to keep the swine flu away!

Well, that's about all for today!  Until next time, be well and stay well!

Sincerely,

Marley Sue
