No TV, Internet, Or Video Games?

Hello to one and all!

Boy, what a week that was!  School started last Tuesday, and I actually thought that it was gonna be a breeze, but just when you think that something is going to be a certain way, boy, do you have a big surprise coming to you!  As all of you know, my getting the new "Beatles Rock Star" this coming Christmas is predicated on how good my grades are, and I did pretty well in English, reading, and science, but, out of the freaking blue, our teacher decided that this particular year, we were going to learn a new kind of math, a new kind of algebra, to be exact.  She said it had something to do with preparing us for college a little early in our lives.  Now, I'm all familiar with regular algebra, or beginner's algebra, as you all know it as, but this new, intermediate algebra, I just don't get.  At least I didn't get it this past week.  I didn't do so well on the test we took Friday, but I didn't feel so bad.  Neither did the rest of the class.  Our teacher told us not to worry, that during the first week, it is normal not to be able to master the class, but she expects us to catch up and start achieving it shortly (I know these same kids were told this same thing back in the first grade, and for some of them...).

I don't know about the rest of the class, but I know I'm worried!  Worried a lot!  After all, whether or not I have a "Merry Christmas" this year depends on how well I do in this new algebra class!  And both my parents were very adamant about my grades being stellar for me to get this new video game.  So, here I am, sitting in front of this computer screen, wondering what am I gonna do.  I'm doing well in every other subject but this, and math is one of the major classes you have to be very good in as far as my parents are concerned.

So, what am I gonna do?  Well, my mom said that, if I'm really concerned about doing better in this new algebra class, I could apply myself more and study a little harder.  Yeah, I could do that, but wouldn't I have to give up TV, Internet, and video game time for that?  Friday and Saturday nights are the only free time I have to devote to the TV and Internet, and the best shows are on during the week, especially this coming week, when the new shows of the fall season are being debuted.  I could give up the video games, though.  I won't give up practicing my guitar, because I'm practicing for my future (but isn't math part of the future, too?  After all, a celebrity has to know how to manage all that money he or she's gonna make!)  Yeah, the video games have to go, that's all there is to it.  So, the video games will go, so that I could study to get good enough grades to get a new video game, which I might not have time to even play, because I'm studying to get better grades in intermediate algebra.  Tell me people, how much freaking sense does that make?

Well, that's all the time we have for this week.  Until next time, be well, and stay well!

Sincerely,

Marley Sue
