Too Early For Christmas Lists?
I'd like to say hello to all my friends out there!
Well, here it is. We're just about coming to the home stretch. Yeah, it's almost the end of Summer, 2009. You can tell by all of the "back to school" sales that are cropping up in store windows all over the place. Yeah, kiddies, it's almost over. Pretty soon, it will be time to hit the books again, and put down the video game console and pick up the computer notebook, and I don't mean to watch You Tube and Hulu either. Yeah, I can just smell the scent of a newly cleaned classroom already. How I hate that smell! Well, anyway, at least I'm prepared, having gotten all of my back-to-school shopping underway over the past few weeks. For those of you who are not, and are still waiting for the last moment to come, you can still find some supplies available at your nearest discount or dollar store.
One of the brighter spots of the in coming school year is that you can start preparing for the upcoming Yuletide season. That's right! Christmas and Hanukkah are just 4 short months away now! And I know what you're thinking: Marley Sue, isn't it a little early to start thinking about Christmas? I would have to say, the answer is a resounding "no!" Why, just this morning, I saw a TV commercial for little stuffed hamsters who scurry around and who even have their own little Habit Trail set! Now, when I saw that commercial, I thought to myself: "Well, I guess the Christmas shopping season is already starting early this year!" Another way I can tell that this particular season is on it's way is the conversation I had with my parents this past week. The newest version of that "Rock Band" video game, "The Beatles Rock Band", just hit the stores recently and I asked my father if I could have it, and he said, "oh, that depends."
"Depends?" I asked. "Depends on what?"
"On how well your grades are."
The school year haven't even started yet, and my getting "The Beatles Rock Band" depends on how well my up coming grades are? Well, it doesn't take a genius to know that they intend this to be a Christmas present, because we all should know whether or not I will get it if my grades are up to par by that time. But I guess it's always been that way, because for many years, the kids whose grades were "above 'c' level," always got what they wanted for Christmas, while the kids whose grades were "below 'c' level," got nothing, except maybe a note in their stockings that said "better luck next year."
I guess that's all the time I have for this week. Until next week, be well and stay well.
Sincerely,
Marley Sue
