Hot Stuff For A Hotter Summer

Hello, everybody, hello!

Jackson update:  it's official.  Mayor Villarigosa officially stated that the city of Los Angeles (re:  the taxpayers) are responsible for paying the $3,000,000 tab for Michael Jackson's memorial service at Staples Center, citing the reason being that Los Angeles has always been a "world class city."

And what does yours truly think about this decision?  Well, that's partly true.  After all, Los Angeles is a world class city, especially when we had extra money to spend.  Now, that we're in a deeprecession, and our city workers are going through weekly unpaid furloughs, and we literally don't have two pennies to rub together, I really believe that we as a collective city all need a little help from our friends to pay this humongous bill, friends like, at least AEG (the Staples Center's Owner) who agreed to host the public memorial in the first place?  And I doubt that the "independent entrepreneurs" who are selling knockoff Michael Jackson t-shirts all over L.A. are going to donate any of the proceeds from the sale of those shirts to help pay the three million, are they?

Well, enough about that.  How has your summer been so far?  Mine's been okay.  It's just been so HOT!   But then again, summer wouldn't be summer if it wasn't hot, would it?  No, it wouldn't be.  So we try to keep cool by drinking a lot of Kool Aid  (and a lot of Kool Aid added to 100% fruit juices, creating a very delicious cooler), and going to a cool, air-conditioned theater to check out a very hot movie.  There's quite a few hot flicks out there .  Anyone seen that new movie, "Orphan?"  Pretty damned scary, that one.  "G Force" isn't bad, either.  Any movie with adventurous, wise-cracking Guinea pigs has to be good.  The stuff on the small screen at home is also good.  One I'd recommend is that new series "Drop Dead Diva".  This is really cool.  It's about a shallow fashion model who dies and comes back to life--in the body of an intelligent "pleasingly plump" lawyer.  Sounds like it can be interesting, doesn't it?
Check it out Sundays at 9PM on Lifetime.  You won't be disappointed.

Well, that's about all the time we have for this week.  Until next time, be well and stay well!

Sincerely,

Marley Sue
