A Pig Bug Among Us
"I read the news today. Oh, boy!..."
I'm sure you all must have heard about the pig bug that's among us, and I don't mean Rush Limbaugh, (although he's a handful to deal with in himself). Of course, I'm talking about the one and only swine flu. It caused a lot of deaths in Mexico (a little over eighty, the last I've heard), and sickened scores more. And it's already crossed the boarder and entered the States, so ready of not, this pig virus is certain to head your way.
This isn't the first time we as a nation had to tacke this porcine foe. Back in the mid seventies, around this same time in 1976 as a matter of fact, the swine flu scare took America by storm as well, although there was only one reported case, in some town named Fort Dix. I think that's in New Jersey, or somewhere back east. There was also a vaccine, but from what I heard, it made more people sick than the actual flu itself, causing paralasis and stuff. Well, anyway, baby, it's back, and it seems to be as strong and dangerous as ever.
This pandemic, as the news media has called it, has me scared to the willies, as I'm sure it's has you scared, too. I has all the symptoms of a traditional flu, high fever, severe headache, and persistant cough. I'm not saying that if you have any of these symptoms you could have contracted the pig virus, but if you do, don't take any chances and run, do not walk, to your nearest doctor's office or hospital.
Another way you can beat this epidemic is bulding up your immune system, by taking a lot of vitamins such as Vitamin C. Eating a lot of foods that contain Vitamin C, such as citrus fruits and orange juice, grapefruit juice, and grape juice, is also good. And stay away from crowds and public spaces, even if it means not going to the store of church or, perhaps, school (Hear me, Mom?). And use lots and lots of Lysol, which also kills germs and viruses.
"Id love to tell you more..."
Until next time, stay well!
Sincerely,
Marley Sue
